So my enthusiasm is already slowing down - probably because I was up from 1-3am with both kids last night. Jackson was restless (more on that later) and Colin was up from 1:30-2:45am after discovering his bed was wet, needing changed, etc, and then fighting me on going back to sleep. Finally around 3am, I think we were all back sound asleep...
We started out the day great - I was scared Colin wouldn't to go back in undies, but he did and was excited to pick out which ones (Cars, of course!). Around 11am he started peeing in his pants, but realized what he was doing and stopped before he was soaked. Then he even finished up in the toilet :) He gladly went into a diaper for naptime, which was wet when he woke up. I'm not holding my breath on getting him trained for naptime and bedtime quite yet, so that was fine. The rest of the day also went good - he stayed dry, peed in the toilet. And he finally pooped. The problem? It was on the floor - hmph. I guess stressing to keep the underwear clean & dry worked, although I wish I would've known to stress to keep the floor the same way LOL Oh well, it was only a little bit and at least he's not holding it in and giving himself a tummy ache - gotta look on the bright side, right? ;) I should mention that he has pooped on the toilet a few times before, so I'm not really sure why he didn't today.... He'll get it eventually.
Wanna hear the funniest potty training story ever? Let's preface by saying one of Colin's favorite movies is F.inding Nemo - he loves it - you'll find out the relevence in a minute. We reward peeing (& pooping when/if it happens on the toilet, of course) with M&M's. Yesterday he peed in the toilet, got his M&M out of the bag, and then accidentally dropped it in the toilet. He was on the verge of a meltdown over it when a thought crossed my mind. "It's okay Colin, when you flush the toilet, the water and M&M will go to Nemo in the ocean" He was thrilled with hearing that, happily flushed the toilet, and got a new M&M for himself. I had no idea that one little statement would have such an impact on him. Every single time he pees in the toilet since then, he has to flush an M&M to Nemo. And believe me, he has to think long and hard about what color Nemo wants each time. Poor little fishy has got to have a tummy ache by now ;)
Quick Jackson update - he has gotten yet another tooth, which brings his total up to 7 already! I knew he was cutting 4 top teeth, all 4 had cut through as of a couple days ago, and then this morning he woke up with another bottom tooth. I guess that explains his restless nights this week (no crying, just restless). And his poor cheeks are so red - I'm keeping them coated with Aquaphor so they don't get too chapped.
And he may not be crawling, but he sure is on the move with rolling and scooting!
Tomorrow we're finally going to venture out of the house since potty training began. We're heading to the gym (Mommy needs it!). I am planning on bringing an extra set of undies & pants for Colin just in case, but I'm anxious to see how long he'll stay dry for. Wish us luck!
