A bump and soooo big!

Yesterday morning after Jackson's morning nap, Colin jumped in the crib with Jackson like he usually does. They sit and "talk" to each other, laughing hysterically as usual. I was trying to catch some of it on video and when I went to put the video camera away, I heard someone bump themselves on the crib. It didn't sound like it was a very hard bump, but it must've got Colin just right - here's the damage on his forehead:

Yes, he's doing his "sad" face on purpose - total drama! LOL He barely even cried when he bumped it. Actually, he didn't really cry, it was more of his fake whine that he specializes in ;) Today the bump is gone, but it's still bruised pretty bad. Poor guy!

Jackson has learned a new trick, showing off how "sooooo big" he is. It's so cute! Here's a little clip of him showing off his skills:

Colin wanted to be "sooo big" too.... but then remembered he's supposed to be sad because he bumped his head earlier in the day - did I not say he is total drama? LOL

And last, here's a smiley pic of Jackson, just because it's cute. Try to ignore the drool on his shirt and the food around his mouth....

Oh and just a quick note - Colin is fully potty trained, aside from bedtime. He hasn't had an accident in days and he stays dry through naps. Woohoo! And yes, Nemo still gets an M&M every time he goes to the bathroom ;)

One final potty training post

Colin had another awesome day yesterday. Zero accidents, pooped on the toilet, and managed an outing to dinner & the mall successfully (3hrs). He also had his first experience peeing in a public toilet - he is not a fan LOL He also stayed dry through his nap yesterday, so that's 2 days in a row for that! During the night last night, he even came into my bedroom at 2am and asked to go potty, and sure enough, he went (a lot)! So although I'm not counting on nighttime potty training happening soon, he sure is showing definite signs of wanting to stay dry then too. Woohoo!

I should probably mention that we stopped using the timer on Friday morning, and as of yesterday he would tell me when he needed to go.

I think it's safe to say that we caught him at the right time for potty training, which is why it was so easy for us. Either that or I just kick butt at potty training. I think I'll stick to it being the right time ;)

Could it be that aside from nighttime, I got him trained in only 3 days?!?! We started Wednesday and by Friday he had zero accidents. I guess this is my last potty training post and that's just fine by me!

Potty Training - Day 3

Had I known it was going to be this easy, I would've done it sooner! *knock on wood*
Day 3 was an absolute breeze. As I posted earlier, Colin pooped in the toilet this morning and the rest of the day followed suit. We had zero accidents, and Colin not only stayed dry on his first outing (2hrs at the gym), but he also stayed dry through his nap. I cannot believe how well he's doing on only day 3. My kid rocks!
That being said, he did try to sneak an extra M&M today. He claimed he had to poop this afternoon, went into the bathroom, and when I got in there he jumped down and said "I did it, I pooped. M&M peeeeas!" with a big old smile on his face. I looked in the toilet and there was nothing. Needless to say, he didn't get the M&M. It was a good try though ;)
Colin says thank you to Grandma & Grandpa P who sent him a bunch of new stickers for his potty chart. He loves them - especially the tractor ones!

Small victory

He pooped IN the toilet this morning - woohoo!!!!!!! He came and asked for a diaper, so I knew something was up. I put him on the toilet and sure enough, he went :)

Potty Training - Day 2

So my enthusiasm is already slowing down - probably because I was up from 1-3am with both kids last night. Jackson was restless (more on that later) and Colin was up from 1:30-2:45am after discovering his bed was wet, needing changed, etc, and then fighting me on going back to sleep. Finally around 3am, I think we were all back sound asleep...

We started out the day great - I was scared Colin wouldn't to go back in undies, but he did and was excited to pick out which ones (Cars, of course!). Around 11am he started peeing in his pants, but realized what he was doing and stopped before he was soaked. Then he even finished up in the toilet :) He gladly went into a diaper for naptime, which was wet when he woke up. I'm not holding my breath on getting him trained for naptime and bedtime quite yet, so that was fine. The rest of the day also went good - he stayed dry, peed in the toilet. And he finally pooped. The problem? It was on the floor - hmph. I guess stressing to keep the underwear clean & dry worked, although I wish I would've known to stress to keep the floor the same way LOL Oh well, it was only a little bit and at least he's not holding it in and giving himself a tummy ache - gotta look on the bright side, right? ;) I should mention that he has pooped on the toilet a few times before, so I'm not really sure why he didn't today.... He'll get it eventually.

Wanna hear the funniest potty training story ever? Let's preface by saying one of Colin's favorite movies is F.inding Nemo - he loves it - you'll find out the relevence in a minute. We reward peeing (& pooping when/if it happens on the toilet, of course) with M&M's. Yesterday he peed in the toilet, got his M&M out of the bag, and then accidentally dropped it in the toilet. He was on the verge of a meltdown over it when a thought crossed my mind. "It's okay Colin, when you flush the toilet, the water and M&M will go to Nemo in the ocean" He was thrilled with hearing that, happily flushed the toilet, and got a new M&M for himself. I had no idea that one little statement would have such an impact on him. Every single time he pees in the toilet since then, he has to flush an M&M to Nemo. And believe me, he has to think long and hard about what color Nemo wants each time. Poor little fishy has got to have a tummy ache by now ;)

Quick Jackson update - he has gotten yet another tooth, which brings his total up to 7 already! I knew he was cutting 4 top teeth, all 4 had cut through as of a couple days ago, and then this morning he woke up with another bottom tooth. I guess that explains his restless nights this week (no crying, just restless). And his poor cheeks are so red - I'm keeping them coated with Aquaphor so they don't get too chapped.

And he may not be crawling, but he sure is on the move with rolling and scooting!

Tomorrow we're finally going to venture out of the house since potty training began. We're heading to the gym (Mommy needs it!). I am planning on bringing an extra set of undies & pants for Colin just in case, but I'm anxious to see how long he'll stay dry for. Wish us luck!

Potty Training - Day 1

This morning I put Colin in underwear. 30 seconds later, he peed in them. Needless to say, I had extremely low hopes for the rest of the day. He picked out new undies to wear and I decided to set a timer. I explained to him that when it went off, we had to check his underwear and he could have put a sticker on his potty chart if he kept his undies dry. 15 min later - undies were dry! We continued every 15min until he finally peed in the toilet, then moved it to every 20min. Each time he got a sticker for keeping his undies dry, then if he peed he got another sticker and an M&M. Could be overboard with rewards, but I don't care - it worked for him. He kept his undies dry all morning!!!

I put him in a pull up for naptime and I encouraged him to keep it dry (knowing he wouldn't be able to yet, but still putting the thought in his head). Sure enough, he woke up wet. No biggie.... he had a small tantrum with not wanting to go back in undies, but I waited it out and sure enough he went back in undies. And then he stayed dry until bedtime!

He sure did make his Mommy proud today!!! And the incredible thing is that he loved his undies so much, he wanted to wear them to bed. Now I know this means I'll be getting up with him in the middle of the night when he discovers his bed is wet and he doesn't like it, but that's alright. I cannot believe how easy today went - hopefully day #2 will be just as easy :)

Growing up too fast

My boys are growing up just way too fast!!!

Jackson is 8.5 months old now - he's babbling like maniac, rolling around, so incredibly close to crawling, and is eating finger food. His top 2 teeth just cut through (total count is 4), and another 2 top teeth are close to cutting through. He was diagnosed with a double ear infection last week, so he's on antibiotics for another couple days. Other than one rough night, he's done great! He's growing like a maniac - he's approx 22lbs and 29in already. He's wearing size 5 diapers (!!!) and 12-18 month clothing. He could easily wear 24 month sleepers, but we haven't gotten those out yet, nor have we bought new. Pretty soon we're going to need to though.

Colin is only 3.5 months away from turning 3 years old. How do I have a 3yr old already?!?!? Seriously, time is just going too fast. He's still quite the chatterbox and is getting really good at putting full sentences together. He has an issue substituting "t" sounds for "k" or "ck" sounds, but that's pretty common for kids his age. "S"s are also an issue - he says it fine if it's w/in the word or at the end of the word, but for some reason he has a hard time if "s" starts out a word. For example, to him "snack" comes out as "nack". He'll get it eventually, I'm sure. He can count to 20, and although he knows a few random letters, he's not to interested in learning all of them. But he can sing the ABC song really good ;) And potty training.... well, that's not really happening in this house. I've tried to get him interested - sticker charts, M&M's, but nothing has worked. It doesn't keep me from trying though! He won't go to kindergarten in diapers, right? LOL

Here's some cute pics of the boys. I know I'm biased, but I think they're awfully cute. I should mention that Colin's new fun thing to do is to join Jackson in his crib when he wakes up from his morning nap. They have fun and it's so cute to watch!

And here's video of them having fun in the crib. You'll notice that Colin prefers to be the center of attention ;) I had a much better video of them "talking" to one another, but it came out too dark for some reason. This one will have to do!

A couple weeks ago, Colin was running and took a spill on the sidewalk. He got up and kept on running ahead of us. Neither Scott nor I even knew he hurt his nose until we got to the playground and saw his nose bleeding. He's a tough guy! This pic is after 3 days of smothering it with Aquaphor (love that stuff!):

And seriously, can Jackson ever stop smiling - I swear he's one of the happiest babies I've ever seen:

A couple days ago I had both boys on my bed while I was folding clothes. And guess what? They were wrestling already!

But they did break for a smile:

And a video from that morning - Jackson loves being tickled!

First post of the New Year!

Apparently this morning is tantrum day for Colin, so this post will be short. I just wanted to share some pics from Christmas of my boys :)

Colin as Santa:

Here's one attempt of trying to get pics of the boys together on Christmas Eve - as you can see, it was not an easy task LOL

Christmas morning was so much fun! Colin had a blast tearing into all of his presents, and then of course had to "help" Jackson too. Luckily all Jackson cared about was playing with the paper ;)

Here's Jackson playing with his favorite new toy:

And Colin playing with one of his favorites, his new video game:

Jackson has learned a new trick the past couple weeks - he can hold his own bottle!

Of course Colin still likes to help:

Look, I'm 8 months old (pardon the drool, but I'm cutting 4 teeth right now)!

And Colin is looking more grown up than ever:

Hope you all had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
